Last year, (May 23), I had Young Hollywood, the 6th novel in my Family Portrait Series written and ready to send off to my editor. I felt that this was the strongest novel in the series. Don’t get me wrong, my novels are my babies, I have no favorites. As the series progress the characters reveal more of themselves making the drama juicer than ever!
I’d planned on handing over the manuscript after my evening walk. Then the unthinkable happened. While crossing the street a drunk driver plowed into me with his car, I was dragged 50 feet before he stopped.
After a year of recuperating and dealing with all the drama that comes with an accident of this magnitude, I had a lot of time to put things into perspective.
I went back and forth about releasing this novel or even writing again. My passion for writing was strangled by the accident, my life revolved around the what happened, and I didn’t want to deal with the pressure of the book launch, chasing reviews and promoting out the wazoo.
I re-read the manuscript cover-to-cover and felt that I needed to release it. That’s what I’ve decided to do. Release it on my terms. No Amazon, no editing, no major promotions.
If it gets read… GREAT! If not, I’m still doing what I love, which is to tell the story of these characters.
So, my dear readers, I’ll be releasing a new episode of my newest title Young Hollywood (Family Portrait 6) every 2 weeks on my websites. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.
