Maya Alden On Her Spirit Animal

Embracing Transformation: My Spirit Animal, the Butterfly

Maya Alden avatar

I have always found myself continually drawn to the symbolism of my spirit animal: the butterfly. This enchanting creature, known for its remarkable transformation, resonates deeply with me and my life’s path. I even have a tattoo on my arm, which I got when I got through a difficult period of depression—and while I was depressed I painted butterflies as they brought me peace.

The thing is, the butterfly’s journey is one of profound metamorphosis. It begins life as a caterpillar, grounded and somewhat limited in its perspective. Yet, inside this humble creature lies a potential for extraordinary change. The cocoon phase, a period of introspection and growth, eventually gives way to a breathtaking revelation—the emergence of a butterfly. This transformation symbolizes hope, resilience, and the beauty that comes from embracing change.

In many ways, my life mirrors the butterfly’s metamorphosis. There have been phases where I’ve felt confined, crawling through challenges, and learning from the ground up. These moments, though difficult, were necessary for my growth. Then came the cocoon stage, where introspection and personal development were my focus. It was a time of self-discovery, of finding out who I truly am and what I aspire to be.

Now, as I spread my wings, embracing the changes and the growth I’ve experienced, I feel akin to the butterfly in its final, glorious form. The butterfly teaches us that change is not only inevitable but also beautiful. Its delicate wings, painted in vibrant colors and patterns, remind us of the uniqueness of each of our journeys.

As a spirit animal, the butterfly inspires me to be adaptable, to embrace transformation with grace, and to remember that the most significant growth often comes from our most challenging periods. It encourages me to float above the mundane, to appreciate the fleeting beauty of each moment, and to approach life with a light, joyous heart.

The beauty of the butterfly doesn’t just lie in its colors or its grace but in its journey from simplicity to splendor. It’s a reminder that no matter where we start, there’s always potential for beauty, growth, and transformation.

As I continue on my path, with the butterfly as my emblem, I am reminded to embrace change with optimism, cherish my unique journey, and emerge from each phase of my life with newfound strength and beauty. Just like the butterfly, I am ready to soar, embracing each new change as an opportunity to become the best version of myself.

About the Book

Quake from Maya Alden

Quake Jazz Sessions Book 1 by Maya Alden

Genre: Romantic Suspense

The secrets of the bayou dance to the rhythm of jazz!

She was the princess of Bayou Belle, sleeping with me, a bayou rat born on the wrong sides of the sheets.

Gaia Doucet was my first love, the one who had me body and soul…until she accused me of something terrible; and I was sent into cruel exile by her mother. But now, ten years later, I’m back. Her grandfather has left me controlling interest of the Doucet empire and I’m ready to enjoy my revenge. I’ll start with her mother and end with her.

While I made a fortune in New York, she’s slinging drinks at Jazz Sessions, her brothers’ bar in the pulsing heart of the French Quarter. I have achieved all my dreams and she’s a failure.

I’m ready to crush her into the ground even though I want her with the same desperation as I did a decade ago.

But when someone hires a hitman to kill her, it sets off a tumultuous QUAKE that shakes the very foundations of our lives. Hate her, I may, but I won’t be able to live in a world where she’s not there.

In the steamy, seductive streets of New Orleans, where secrets and scandals are as common as the sultry jazz rhythms, Quake is the first book in the Jazz Sessions series. Please note, each novel in this series is a standalone romance, complete with its own satisfying happily ever after. Yet, the shadow of a sinister family mystery stretches across the arc of the first three books.

Perfect for fans of LJ Shen and Shain Rose.
