I was thrilled when I got invited to sit down for a podcast interview with Nancy Christie on her Living the Writing Life Podcast. This was my first podcast interview and naturally, I was nervous but Nancy, being the professional she is, made me feel at ease. She could easily be the Barbara Walters (RIP) of podcast interviews.
The questions were well thought out and even though I got them before the interview, we went off script and it just flowed.
Here are a few topics we touched on, I’ll have all the places and links where you can hear it below.
- How the pandemic and events in 2020 shaped my writing.
- How unplanned events shape the way we write and how we form our characters.
- Learning with my characters. When writing what you know goes out the door.
- How having more than one perspective can actually broaden the reader’s mind.
- Tips when you feel stuck or afraid to write after a life-changing event.
- Podcasts that have helped me stay motivated: Mel Robbins, Jay Shetty, and Nancy Christie Living the Writing Life, it helps to hear about people who are doing what you want to do.
- How to get yourself motivated to write.
- Overcoming comparison-itis when it comes to other authors.
- Diversity and writing authentically.
- Self-publishing versus traditional publishing.
- What makes you feel successful as a writer?
- Is writing your calling? Nancy Christie and I share our thoughts.
If you have any interest in writing this is one of the podcasts I recommend.
Here’s where you can hear the interview.
