I remember when I first heard about Amazon, it was back when I lived in New York. There were some rumblings among the internet community I was a part of. When the idea was floated I was like, “an online mall? That will never work.” I laughed it off and went along my merry way. Now years later, Amazon is the biggest online retailer and I have kicked myself several times because I didn’t get in early.
For years I’ve flirted with the idea of online eCommerce but nothing really stuck. I recently completed a build-out of an online store for a client and I felt compelled to build my own. I knew whatever I built would have to light a spark within me, the passion would have to burn inside me. I knew that I’d have to 10X my marketing skills, website design skills, and business skills. The time and energy investment would be astronomical and I needed a niche that I cared about.
Then it hit me, eco-friendly gifts made in the USA! I was looking for a gift for a friend of mine who was retiring but couldn’t find anything eco-friendly in one place. Yes, Amazon is there but you know how sometimes too many choices can overwhelm you? Anyhoo, I started researching the niche I wanted to get into. I set out in search of Eco-friendly products made in the USA. I found a few but I didn’t want to even entertain the idea of competing with Amazon so I searched out suppliers who didn’t have their products on the biggest marketplace in the world, it took a while but eventually, I found who I was looking for.
With the shop design in place, stocks acquired, and business details worked out I am finally ready to launch!
