It’s been years since I invested in a cutting board, and they’ve come a long way! Even though it is a kitchen staple it is not something that you use every day so, you know, it could last a while.
Even though cutting boards are not something that you use every day, every kitchen needs one. Here are a few that I’ve been eyeing on Amazon.
I recommend products that I would use myself and all opinions expressed here are my own. This post contains affiliate links that cost you nothing. I may earn a small commission if you click on them.
Seville Classics Bamboo Wood Cutting Board with 7 Color-Coded Flexible Mats
Why I love this:
It comes with its own storage for the mats. Simply replace the mat on top of the bamboo surface if you are cutting meat, veggies, bread, etc. The little icons on the side remind you which one is for what.
Speaking of bamboo. The wood part of this cutting board is made of bamboo, which is fast growing, therefore sustainable, eco-friendly, and according to the manufacturer easy to clean.
I love the color mats with the icons, they help prevent cross-contamination.
The cutting board has non-slip feet to prevent it from moving around on the counter while you work.
TidyBoard Meal Prep System
I first saw something similar to this on Ming Tsi’s cooking show on PBS and thought it was such a fantastic idea! This one takes it up a notch.
Why I love this:
Storage! I’m beginning to see a pattern here. It comes with storage containers so you can clean up while you chop. You can also store chopped veggies in the containers. By the way, the containers are also strainers.
The cutting part is made of bamboo.
I love the color. They also come in gray if you like that sort of thing.
This product comes from a small business.
I love it but…
It doesn’t have different surfaces for meat, veggies, etc.
HHXRISE Large Bamboo Cutting Board With 3 Built-In Compartments And Juice Grooves
This cutting board is the most cost-effective than the other two but that’s not why I like it.
Why I like it:
It’s sustainable and earth friendly, it’s made of bamboo.
I like the height. There is more distance between the action and the counter. Which, in my opinion, is better for your wrist.
It has a built-in juice groove. You don’t know you need a juice groove until you get one. In case you don’t know, a juice groove prevents juice from running off on the counter when you cut veggies with a lot of juice or meat.
It has built-in compartments to hold things that you are working on.
I love it but…
Doesn’t have different surfaces for meats and veggies.
It doesn’t have a non-slip base or feet.
The built-in compartments look small and they are not removable. I can see this being a problem when you have to get stuff out. You’d either have to scoop it out or spoon it, if you have something in one compartment and you attempt to pour it, contents from the others will come tumbling out as well.
Still, for the price, I won’t rule it out.
There you have it, if you’ve tried any of these, leave a comment.
