How did you become an author
I started writing at the tender age of eleven. At that time, everything was hand-written in marbled composition books. I had a ton of them, and they all held my deepest darkest secrets. Which I then turned into some amazing stories, poetry and lyrics. I haven’t written any of the songs yet, but you never know what the future holds.
Writing has always been cathartic for me since it’s what I’m passionate about. I just love looking at a blank page, knowing in a matter of minutes, all my thoughts and feelings will give that page a life of its own. It’s the reason, I pour my heart and soul into every word. Every, single, day.
What do you do to unwind and relax?
I truly love reading and writing. It’s the best way I know how to unwind after a long day at work.
What inspired you to write this book?
I read an article in the newspaper that gave me a bit of inspiration. I changed it up to fit my characters and the rest is history as they say.
Do you see writing as a career?
I would love to write full time. In fact, it’s one of my goals in 2020 but I need to get all my ducks in a row. I’m sure when that day finally comes, you will hear me screaming from the rooftops!
Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?
It depends on what kind of scene I’m writing that day. Generally, I do love listening to music, but sometimes it can be very distracting. And, I do love creating playlists for all of my books. Check out my YouTube channel and have a listen.
Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
Typically, one at a time. If you asked how many I have pending, I’d have to admit I have five in total.
If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
This is a very hard question since there are so many wonderful books and authors out there. But, if I had to choose it would be The Ribbon Duet by Pepper Winters. Breathtakingly beautiful…
What do you think makes a good story?
In my opinion, as a reader, I need to feel every emotion that the characters feel. After all, I read to escape and I want to be one with the characters so I can live vicariously through them.
What are you currently reading?
Credence by Penelope Douglas. It’s not for the faint of heart, but I rather enjoy a taboo treat from time to time.
What is your writing process? For do you do an outline first? Do you do the chapters first? What are common traps for aspiring writers?
Unfortunately, I’m a Pantser. My characters let me know how they want their story to play out. And believe me, they’re very loud on any given day. I just let my fingers guide me and give them all what they want. The writing process is different for everyone. So, I would tell an aspiring author, to follow their heart and do what’s best for them instead of following the crowd.
